It’s the Nick ‘High Fidelity’ Hornby story we love to love: an indie-music-obsessed but emotionally stunted male negotiates the rocky straits of modern love. Here, though, it’s Juliet (Rose Byrne) who’s in the thick of things. Her long-term relationship with aforementioned stunted male Duncan (Chris O’Dowd), a second-rate academic obsessed with an obscure American singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), is going nowhere.
